SCBWI 43rd Annual Summer Conference

August, 2014

Los Angeles, CA

I attended the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Summer Conference for the first time this year. What an inspiring event! I was proud to display my portfolio in the Portfolio Showcase. Some highlights of my full weekend were: learning from the clever and entertaining host Lin Oliver, visiting Tomie dePaola’s studio via Skype, seeing Judy Schachner’s keynote about creating “character bibles,” and attending presentations by Rubin Pfeffer (on navigating the publishing process) and Eugene Yelchin (on “Turning the Page – Surprise and Expectation in Picture Books”). I will carry this SCBWI energy into my illustration work in the coming year!

Use Your Noodle, Doodle! is a true story about Grandma and the antics of a goldendoodle dog.
